What is God doing right now?
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
(Isaiah 9:2-3, 6-7)
Oh, Wonderful Lord and Everlasting Father,
You bring peace the world does not understand.
You overthrow kingdoms and transform governments.
You understand pain and relieve suffering.
You experience grief to bring us joy.
You never grow tired or weary.
You are never overwhelmed,
never disappointed,
never hopeless,
never surprised.
You are supreme, eternal, and holy.
Lord, I praise you and thank you for who you are and what you’re doing at this moment in history.
This moment, right now.
You are working.
You are shining a bright light into a dark world,
and you are revealing yourself to us.
Will we look?
Will we change?
Will we pause to praise and worship you?
In the name of Jesus, our Savior,
Amen.
